Flashback Friday

Theme this week for flashback friday is... What your Mum did to your hair.

Here it is 1982 I think...
Well it wasn't actually my mum, it was my dad. My hair only looked like this every second weekend. My parents seperated when I was young so my sister and I came down to Melbourne from the country to visit dad. There are endless amounts of photos just like this one. It was a bit of a ritual at Dad's on Sunday morning before going home, Dad would do our hair all pretty, we would dress up nicely with our best plastic scateboard necklaces, stand in front of one of the two 'photo' trees in Dad's yard, and there would be one photo of me, one of my sister, and then one of us together. You can probably tell by the look on my face that we didn't find it very amusing.

What I did find amusing was this story that Dad only recently told me about doing our hair...

One Sunday we were running late and our hair hadn't dried yet after our pre-photo-sunday-morning-bath so Dad decided to use the hair dryer. We both had quite curly hair, so the result was something similar to the photo above. After seeing the two fuzzballs he had created, Dad went into a mad panic thinking that he had blow-dried our beautiful curls away forever! He said he was terrified to take us home to face a tongue lashing or even a severe beating from our mother who absolutely adored our curls. I can just imagine my Dad spending the 2 and a half hour journey trying to come up with an excuse as to why our curls had disapeared. If only Dad knew how delighted we would have been if you actually could get rid of them that easily.

Your poor dad. Despite that look on your face it's still a very cute photo.
